Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Parliamentary Leader in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Ahmed Karim Kundi, strongly criticized the provincial budget for the financial year 2025-26, terming the Rs 157 billion surplus as “a joke.”
Addressing a post-budget briefing in KP Assembly, Kundi alleged that the current government has manipulated budget figures to conceal its poor performance and corruption.
He said, “They have inflated columns in the budget to hide corruption. When Muzammil Aslam presented these figures, were all such details mentioned? The people deserve transparency.”
The PPP leader further expressed concern over the worsening law and order situation in the province, stating that the highest number of terrorist incidents this year took place in KP. “Only the faces of corruption have changed,” he remarked, adding that the opposition rejects what he called the “Ali Baba Chalis Chor” budget.
Kundi also questioned the provincial government’s efforts regarding financial devolution. “They keep demanding a share from the NFC, but what have they done for the Provincial Finance Commission?” he asked.
He demanded transparency over the utilization of the Rs 416 billion development budget for 2024-25.
Meanwhile, Opposition Member of the Assembly Ihsanullah Khan alleged that the funds spent last year were siphoned off by the elite and transferred abroad. He also accused the PTI government of launching ghost projects in the merged districts and declared that both the beginning and the end of this government are tainted with corruption.
