Over 10,000 people infected by dengue during 2021 in KP, report

More than 10,000 people infected by dengue during the year 2021, the health department said in its annual report released on Wednesday.
The report was released by the Directorate General of Health Services Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
According to DG Health, Dr Niaz, that due to prompt response of the health department and other organizations dengue fever did not affect many people in the province. He said that currently there was no case of dengue fever in the entire province.
Dr Niaz told reporters that during the dengue pandemic the districts such as Peshawar, Nowshera, Haripur and Swabi were high risk spots.
The highest 5700 cases of dengue were reported in Peshawar district while no case of dengue was reported from Upper Chitral, Upper Kohistan and North Waziristan districts.
According to DG Health, only ten people have died of dengue so far.
During dengue, 3328 patients were treated at Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) and 1206 at Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC).
The report noted that 98 percent of dengue patients recovered after being treated in government run hospitals of the province.
