Rescue 1122 teams across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remained on high alert throughout October, responding to 18,861 emergencies ranging from road accidents to medical and fire incidents, according to the department’s spokesperson, Bilal Ahmad Faizi.
The emergencies included 2,356 road traffic accidents, 15,226 medical cases, 303 fire incidents, 363 crime-related emergencies, 23 drowning cases, 15 building collapses, and 550 other incidents of various natures.
Faizi said that Rescue 1122 teams successfully rescued 19,079 individuals, while 495 people lost their lives before medical help could reach them. He added that the service maintained an average response time of under seven minutes, reflecting its commitment to efficiency and public service.
The spokesperson noted that Rescue 1122 also conducted community outreach during the month, organizing awareness sessions and training programs for students and citizens on First Aid, fire safety, and accident prevention. These efforts, he said, aim to build a more safety-conscious and resilient society.
Faizi emphasized that Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remains ready to respond to all types of emergencies and continues to enhance its capacity and infrastructure to meet the growing needs of the province.
