ISLAMABAD: Muhammad Zamir Assadi, Research Fellow at the China International Press Communication Center (CIPCC), has called for enhanced efforts by Pakistan and China to promote their shared cultural heritage and historical links through the ancient Silk Road, stressing the need to transmit this legacy to younger generations through greater awareness of their common history and civilizational ties. Speaking on the sidelines of an international cultural exhibition on Wednesday, Assadi said highlighting historical and cultural similarities between the two countries is vital to connecting young people with their shared past and encouraging them to preserve this heritage for future generations. He said that several artefacts displayed at the exhibition bore similarities to those preserved at Pakistan’s Taxila Museum, reflecting centuries-old cultural exchanges and historical connections between the two regions. Both countries, he noted, were linked through the ancient Silk Road, which facilitated the exchange of ideas, art and cultural traditions. According to UNESCO, Taxila was situated along a branch of the Silk Road connecting China with the West, while artworks at China’s Mogao Caves also reflect influences from the Gandhara civilisation.
