The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has released the schedule till December 12 but the case of Pakistan is not included in the agenda.
The IMF Executive Board will give approval for the release of $700 million tranche for Pakistan under the $3 billion stand-by arrangement (SBA) programme. The current IMF programme of $3 billion is scheduled to end in early April 2024, with around $1.8 billion remaining undisbursed.
The lender released $1.2 billion as a first tranche in July. Sources say that the officials of the Ministry of Finance have shown the possibility of calling a meeting on December 7 for the next installment of 700 million dollars, the staff-level agreement between Pakistan and the IMF was reached on November 15.
According to sources, the meeting of the IMF Executive Board is likely to be convened 6 to 8 weeks after the agreement, while the Christmas holidays will start in the last 10 days of December.
