Pakistan while refuting foreign media report about an agreement on use of Pakistan airspace by US to conduct military and intelligence operation in Afghanistan has said no talks are underway between US and Pakistan for any such agreement.
According to a statement issued by Foreign Office (FO) there is no substance in media reports in connection with giving regular shape to the agreement between Pakistan and US and no talks are underway between Pakistan and US for such agreement.
Pakistan and US have longstanding cooperation on regional security and anti terrorism and the two sides remain engaged in regular consultations, .
It may be mentioned that US media had claimed Byden administration while informing Congress members during a meeting that talks are continuing for use of Pakistan airspace by US for conducting operation in Afghanistan had said US and Pakistan are very close to a formalized agreement on this count.
It was said in media report that US was still using Pakistan airbase while no such agreement is in place on the basis of which US could use Pakistan air space on permanent basis for carrying out operation in Afghanistan
