Pakistan vs West Indies: lessons from D/N test match

“This 400th test represented Pakistan cricket perfectly. Brilliance in that 300, unpredictability in that low score and finally determination to pick those last few wickets,” read a comment on Cricinfo as Pakistan marked their first ever Day/Night test match win against the West Indies in Dubai. After piling a mammoth total in the first two days, no one had expected a fight from the West Indians, keeping in view the one-sided contests witnessed in the limited-over formats. But this time around, they fought hard, first with the bat and then with the ball, skittling Pakistan for a total of just over 100. The lacklustre test match got a new life. No one would have imagined that the game would go to the last hour of the fifth day to find the winner after Pakistan’s first innings total. Everyone was expecting Yasir Shah to exploit the rough with his bowling, but no one had expected that a stunning catch from the leggie would be the turning point of the game. Nothing can be ruled out in the case of Pakistan.
