Islamabad-In recognition of Abdul Rafay, a student sponsored by Workers Welfare Fund, winning the first gold medal for Pakistan in the International Biology Olympiad, a special ceremony was held in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Secretary Workers Welfare Fund Zulfiqar Ahmed, in which a commemorative shield was presented to him for his outstanding achievement.
On this occasion, Secretary Workers Welfare Fund said that his remarkable success at the international level is the victory of the positive thinking and vision of Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Chaudhry Salik Hussain.
He said that this first gold medal proves that we are working day and night to implement the mission of Chaudhry Salik Hussain and Federal Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry. He said that this wonderful success has been achieved in the light of their instructions, which will be continued in the future as well.
Secretary Zulfiqar Ahmed further said that this gold medal is the first step towards the position that Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir want to give to Pakistan in the international community.
He said that this moment is a source of extraordinary pride for Pakistan and the Workers Welfare Fund. Abdul Rafay’s hard work, dedication and outstanding academic ability have elevated the name of the country on the international stage.
This achievement is proof that if the children of workers are provided with quality education and world-class opportunities, they can also raise the flag of the country and nation in the world.
He said that the Workers Welfare Fund will always be committed to the educational and social development of the families of workers.
Zulfiqar Ahmed added that Abdul Rafay’s gold medal is a reflection of the fact that the patronage of the institution is providing new avenues of success to the future builders of Pakistan at the global level.
On this occasion, Abdul Rafay thanked the entire administration of the Workers Welfare Fund and dedicated his gold medal to his late father Abdul Basit, who was an employee of WWF.
Giving details, Abdul Rafay said that he achieved this achievement at the 36th International Biology Olympiad (IBO), which was held in the Philippines from July 21 to 27, 2025. The brightest students from around the world participated in this global competition.
