ISLAMABAD
The Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF), in collaboration with the Pakistan Army, has announced the launch of the second phase of the National Boxing Talent Hunt Program, with Inter-Divisional competitions set to begin from January 30 across the country.
According to PBF President Lieutenant Colonel (R) Nasir Ijaz Tung, the first phase of the nationwide initiative—conducted at the district level—has been successfully completed in three age categories: Under-17, Under-19, and Under-22, for both men and women.
The second phase will feature Inter-Divisional competitions in 24 cities, including Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar, Faisalabad, Islamabad, Makran, Muzaffarabad, and Gilgit-Baltistan. The competitions will run from January 30 to February 3.
Nasir Tung stated that the National Talent Hunt Program is a landmark initiative aimed at identifying hidden boxing talent from every district of Pakistan and strengthening grassroots boxing through a four-tier competitive structure comprising District, Division, Provincial, and National levels.
The PBF President expressed gratitude to the Pakistan Army for its full support, noting that their cooperation is playing a vital role in promoting boxing and nurturing young talent across the country. He emphasized that the Talent Hunt Program will serve as a benchmark for evaluating divisional and provincial boxing structures, while promoting unity, merit, transparency, and long-term reform within the sport.
For the first time in Pakistan’s boxing history, fully registered and operational divisional-level committees have been established in coordination with provincial associations to ensure transparent, disciplined, and professional event management.
