Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PCMEA) called for early settlement of funds besides giving special subsidies to exporters to compete with their competitors in international markets.
Aslam Tahir said local handmade carpets are in great demand in international markets and being appreciated everywhere, however; he made it clear that there is dire need to give focus on marketing of our brands to increase volume of exports.
He further said handmade carpet industry is not a burden on the government rather this industry provides employments to people at their thresholds. He said this industry is being ignored by the concerned authorities.
Aslam Tahir said PCMEA is utilizing all available resources to stand this industry on its feet however, it is hard to achieve hundred percent result without getting the government’s support.
He demanded the government to terminate all strict conditions imposed on exporters besides giving them facilities and special incentives.
“In order to encourage businessmen to stay in the country and for stopping capital flight, there is a need to provide special incentives like tax concessions, rebate on bank loans, subsidized power and gas bills,” he concluded. =DNA
