Saif accuses federal govt of censoring Imran Khan’s public meetings
PESHAWAR
Special Assistant to Chief Minister for Information and Public Relations Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif has accused the central government for taking steps to prevent media to blackout former prime minister Imran Khan’s public meetings at different major cities of the country, adding that his coverage of telethon to collect donations for flood victims was also interrupted.
He said PTI chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan has gained unprecedented popularity ever since the incumbent government leadership ousted him from power corridors.
“Media is being pressured to stop coverage of Imran Khan’s rallies,” he alleged and said that even the UN Secretary General was not shown the flood affected areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
He expressed these views during a press conference at Information Cell Civil Secretariat Peshawar on Monday. On this occasion, Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif said that the country was currently in a state of political chaos.
He said that inflation has created a sense of deprivation for masses and people he said were in a state of confusion and deep tension due financial crises.
PTI chairman Imran Khan has shown great resistance and fighting for their people and to safeguard interest of the country, he added.
“PTI is in the field against the fascism and anti-people measures of the imported government. Chairman PTI Imran Khan held rallies across the country for real freedom. The narrative of true independence has received strong public support,” he added.
Barrister Mohammad Ali Said went on to say that the ongoing political situation indicated people’s responses were more supporting the narrative and ideology of Imran Khan, adding that PDM leadership failed to stabilize the economy and create political space among the masses despite being in power.
Saif alleged the incumbent government for putting pressure over the media houses to blackout PTI major power shows across the country and those who dare to do so were taken off or intimidated.
Even cable networks were shut down. The federal government has been basically curtailing freedom of speech and every citizen was being deprived of his basic right, he added.
The Special Assistant added that although the apex court has ordered to lift ban on Imran Khan’s live coverage, media houses were being intimidated to not abide by the court orders, he alleged.
It was very unfortunate when on the behest of incumbent central government Imran Khan’s relief program for flood victims was not telecasted and blacked out, he added.
