The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa successfully organised a two-day Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation Expo (DRR/CCA-EXPO25) in Peshawar, bringing together key humanitarian actors, national and international development partners, and government and non-governmental stakeholders on a single platform.
This landmark event marked KP’s first-ever expo dedicated to disaster risk reduction and climate adaptation. The expo highlighted initiatives in preparedness, response, recovery, and resilience across multiple sectors.
A large number of NGOs, INGOs, humanitarian agencies, district administrations, and provincial departments participated, showcasing their disaster management systems, early preparedness plans, community mitigation models, search and rescue capabilities, and climate adaptation interventions.
Provincial Minister for Relief, Rehabilitation and Settlement, Mr. Aqib Ullah Khan, graced the occasion as Chief Guest and formally inaugurated the expo. He appreciated PDMA for convening relevant partners and commended participating organisations for demonstrating their preparedness and response models.
The Minister visited various stalls and was briefed on organisational strategies, relief capacities, and field equipment used during emergencies and disaster operations.
Senior officials, including the Director Disaster Risk Management (DRM), Director General Rescue, and Deputy Director Civil Defence, also addressed the gathering. They emphasised the need for coordinated planning, capacity building, community awareness, and strengthened resources to reduce disaster risks across the province. The speakers reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing institutional frameworks, improving emergency response systems, and bolstering resilience in line with provincial and national policies.
The expo served as a valuable knowledge-sharing and networking platform, enabling stakeholders to exhibit innovations, exchange best practices, and reinforce their collective resolve to build a safer, more disaster-resilient province.
