KHYBER
A peace Mushaira(poetry reciting) was held at the shrine of renowned Pashto poet and “Father of Ghazal” Amir Hamza Khan Shinwari in Landi Kotal on Sunday evening with poets and writers using their verses to highlight the importance of peace and harmony.
The event was organized by the family of Amir Hamza Khan Shinwari in collaboration with the Khyber Zakha Khel Literary Jirga.
Beside Captain Umair Khan of 176 Wing Security Forces as a chief guest, a large number of poets, writers, elders and prominent personalities from the area attended the gathering.
Poets including Abdul Ghafoor Afridi, Riaz Afridi, Namdar Afridi, Mukammil Afridi and others from Landi Kotal presented their poetry, including ghazals and verses conveying messages of peace that was warmly appreciated by the participants.
Addressing on the occasion Captain Umair Khan termed the peace mushaira a welcome initiative and said that no country or nation could achieve progress without peace.
He said maintaining peace in the region was a shared responsibility of security forces, tribal elders and the public, stressing that everyone must play their part in promoting lasting peace so that people could lead better and more secure lives.
At the conclusion of the event, Faisal Shinwari and Malik Tahir Shinwari from the family of Amir Hamza Khan Shinwari, along with Malik Abrar Afridi of the Khyber Zakha Khel Literary Jirga, thanked all distinguished guests, poets and participants for attending the peace mushaira.
