Peace walk conducts in Landi Kotal

Pertaining prevailed tension at Pak-Afghan sharing border, Torkham, a peace walk was carried out in Landi Kotal Bazaar on Saturday.
Scores of people from different walks of life including political leaders, members of the Torkham clearing agents union, laborers and local traders participated in the march.
Addressing on the occasion those led the walk were Aftab Shinwari, tehsil Chairman Shah Khalid, Pakistan People Party district leader Shah Rehman and others said that for the last one and half weeks, the Pak-Afghan authorities had suspended the Torkham crossing over minor dispute that had multiplied miseries of the common men on both sides of the border.
Fight cannot be a solution to any dispute therefore both the neighboring should resolve the border issue through dialog, they opined.
They maintained that the present uncertain situation, developed at the border, not only inflicted a negative impact on the economy of the both countries but also suffered hundreds of thousands daily wagers, passengers including patients and transporters on both sides of the crossing.
They demanded of the Pak-Afghan high up to have mercy on their citizens, resume the border immediately for general crossing and seek solution of certain border matters via table talk.
The participants while holding banner and placards inscribed with pro-border reopening statements and chanted slogans in favor of their demands marched from Bacha Khan Chawk, Landi Kotal Bazaar till Landi Kotal-Torkham bypass road and dispersed peacefully.
It is to be stated here that the Torkham border has remained closed for the fifteenth day over a dispute, broke out between Pakistan and Afghanistan border security forces over building of forces post by the later one in the prohibited location.
