ISLAMABAD:The Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif has said that peace remains a thing next to impossible without peaceful neighbourhood.
He was addressing inaugural session of the SAARC Interior Ministers’ Conference here on Thursday.Online reported
The prime minister urged the regional countries to take collective steps for bringing lasting peace and prosperity to the region. Pakistan is committed to jointly working with SAARC member states in fighting terrorism, corruption and organized crimes, he added. .
Nawaz Sharif said such an approach is in sync with his Government’s vision of peace for development and peaceful neighborhood.
The Prime Minister said at national level, Pakistan has made remarkable gains against terrorism through operation Zarb-e-Azb and effective implementation of National Action Plan (NAP). These reflect the Government’s determination to eliminate the scourge of terrorism from our soil for good.
Mean while Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Thursday that the masses were fully aware as to who indulges in the politics of anarchy and who works for the development of the people.
Addressing PML-N’s parliamentary meeting, the Prime Minister said that they should be thankful that God had blessed his party so much in the recent elections.
“Not only have we won convincing victories in Gilgit Baltistan, but we have also secured tremendous electoral wins in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, local bodies elections as well as cantonment elections,” he said.
Nawaz said that when his government came in power in 2013, it had to cope with three major challenges which included reviving the economy, tackling the menace of terrorism and dealing with the energy crisis in the country.
PM Nawaz said that as compared to three years ago, Pakistan was doing much better now due to the improved economy of the country.
“It is very happiness that I am announcing that we will bid farewell to the IMF program this year,” he said.
Nawaz Sharif also lashed out at former president and army chief General (r) Musharraf when he said that no electric projects had been set up in the nine years. He insisted that Musharraf and his supporters should be brought to the parliament and made to explain themselves as to why they didn’t undertake even a single energy project at that time?
Nawaz praised the efforts of Paksitan army, police and the nation in bringing down terrorism and militancy in the country. He also expressed his happiness at the improved law and order circumstances of Karachi and said that investors were now coming back to the city.
The Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that the government will say goodbye to International Monetary Fund (IMF) by end of this year.Online reported.
Chairing the PML (N) Parliamentary Party meeting here on Thursday, he expressed the resolve of the Government to work with new spirit in the next two years for the welfare of the people and development of the country.
The prime minister said we have to speed up the work during remaining two years of Government’s tenure.
He said record shows that PML(N) is doing the politics of development. He said along with present, we are also determined for a bright future of the country.
“People fully know who is doing the politics of development and who is doing politics of chaos. He said PML (N) has achieved a historic success in recently held AJK elections”, Nawaz added.
Earlier, he said in Gilgit Baltistan and Local Bodies elections people had expressed confidence in PML(N) and its leadership. He said people had also voted for the party in Cantonment Boards elections.
Members of the National Assembly informed the meeting about the issues being faced by the people in their constituencies. The Prime Minister asked the ministers to resolve the problems at the earliest.
The Prime Minister said when we came into power in 2013, there were three major challenges before us to eliminate terrorism, improve economy and overcome energy shortage.
He said terrorism has been eliminated to a larger extent. He said the backbone of terrorism has been broken through operation Zarb-e-Azb.
He said as a result of prudent Government’s policies, Pakistan is not only being rated among emerging markets but also among emerging economies which was acknowledged by the international financial institutions and rating agencies.
