Performance audit of medical teaching institutions kicked off

On the Special directives of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister for Health Shahram Tarakai, performance audit of the autonomous Medical Teaching Institutions (MTIS) of the province has been started with the aim to evaluate the overall performance of these institutions since the time they have been declared autonomous through an act of the Provincial Assembly (Medical Teaching Institutions Rerforms institutions Act 2015).
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health care commission-a regulatory body of the Provincial Government has been tasked to carry out the performance audit of the MTIs, whereas Shifa Foundation has also been involved in the process as a neutral third party in order to the ensure impartiality and transparency in the process.
Through this exercise overall performance of the MTIs with regard to clinical, financial, Human resource management, administrative affairs all other aspects will be evaluated; and reports based on real time data will be submitted to the Health Department.
In the light of the Performance Audit Reports necessary measures will be suggested and taken to further improve to patients’ care in these hospitals. Teams of Health care commission and Shifa Foundation initiated the exercise in Khyber Teaching Hospital, Peshawar on Friday while it will be carried out in Hayatabad Medical Complex, Lady Reading Hospital and other MTIs very soon.
