Peshawar: 30 arrested as PTI protests continue after IK arrest

As many as 30 people were arrested after sporadic protests broke out on the second consecutive day against the arrest of PTI chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan in Peshawar.
According to the police, the cases have been registered on charges of damaging public and private property, vehicles, metro buses, and government ambulances. Charges of arson, stone pelting, vandalism, and attacks on the police have also been added to the registered cases.
Identification of rioters and arsonists from CCTV footage and other sources is underway, the police said.
After the arrest of the leader of the political party, 30 people have been arrested so far from different places during the violent protests in different areas of Peshawar, said police.
The statement said that Capital City Police (CCPO) Muhammad Ijaz Khan and SSP Operations Haroon-ul-Rashid Khan were closely monitoring the law and order situation and the police in the provincial metropolis have been put on high alert across the district under the leadership of Divisional SPs.
