PESHAWAR
A formal oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected cabinet of the District Attorneys and Law Officers Welfare Association, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was held at the Civil Secretariat in Peshawar. The event was graced by the provincial Minister for Law, Aftab Alam Advocate, who administered the oath to the newly inducted office-bearers.
The ceremony was attended by the Secretary of the Law and Human Rights Department, the Director General of Law and Human Rights, other senior officials of the department, and office-bearers of the KP Law Officers Association, including Prsident Tariq khan tareen.
On the occasion, Minister Aftab Alam extended his heartfelt congratulations to the new cabinet and underscored their crucial role in strengthening the judicial system. In his address, he described District Attorneys and Law Officers as the “backbone of the judicial system,” highlighting their responsibilities in prosecuting public cases, offering legal counsel, and ensuring effective representation of the state.
He emphasized that District Attorneys play a pivotal role in codes of civil procedure by overseeing case investigations, , pursuing court proceedings, handling appeals, and negotiating plea bargains.
The Law Minister further noted that providing legal advice to government departments, drafting laws and regulations, and supporting policy formulation are essential functions that help align government actions with constitutional and legal frameworks.
Expressing optimism, Aftab Alam Advocate stated that the newly elected cabinet would play an active and effective role in the welfare of the association and its members.
He also stressed the importance of the association focusing on key public interest areas such as combating corruption, addressing environmental violations, and protecting consumer rights. The Minister urged the association to make the prevention of illegal activities, safeguarding of public interests, and support for legal reforms central to its agenda.
Towards the end of the event, the President of the KP Law Officers Association presented Tariq khan tareen a set of demands and highlighted issues faced by members. The Law Minister assured full cooperation and support in addressing their legitimate concerns.
