Peshawar: Police defused huge quantity of explosive materials

PESHAWAR: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Haroon Rasheed said on Tuesday that “a huge quantity of explosive materials” was defused by the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS). He said that, acting on a tip-off, police found the materials in the Ouch Canal field in the limits of Urmar Police Station. He said that unidentified lobbed the material in the Ouch canal fields but it failed to explode, adding that action was taken on the basis of credible information. A police team led by SP Sardar Circle Division Malik Habid, SHO Urmar Police Station Tehseen Ullah Khan along with Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) defused the explosive materials. SSP Operations Peshawar told reporters that explosive materials were taken into police custody and an investigation has been launched. Mr Haroon added that the explosive materials were lobbed for the purpose of terrorism but timely action of police averted it.
