CCPO vows indiscriminate action against anti-social elements, land grabbers, organized gangs

The Capital City Police Peshawar has recovered 13,000 marla of illegally occupied land and returned properties to their rightful owners, while resolving financial disputes worth Rs437.8 million over the past few months.
The recoveries were made as part of targeted operations against encroachment mafia and criminal elements launched during the last six months, according to Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Dr Mian Saeed Ahmed.
Speaking at a ceremony held at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines for handing over keys of houses, shops, vehicles and other recovered items to their owners, the CCPO said eight most-wanted gangs had been identified during operations, of which four organised groups were completely dismantled. He said that besides retrieving 13,000 marla of land from illegal occupants and restoring possession to affected citizens, police actions against hardened criminals had led to a significant reduction in crime.
Police also resolved 331 kanals of property and transaction disputes worth Rs437.8m during the past two-and-a-half months through what officials described as a prompt and impartial strategy. Disputes related to houses, shops and plazas were amicably settled, strengthening public confidence in the force.
Authorities said that millions of rupees obtained through private and illegal jirgas as collateral had also been recovered and returned to the original owners.
In a crackdown on street crime, dacoity and vehicle theft, police arrested 68 suspects belonging to 34 gangs and recovered cash, 27 tolas of gold, 24 vehicles, 144 motorcycles, 251 mobile phones and weapons used in criminal activities.
Over the last two-and-a-half months, 331 search and strike operations were conducted, leading to the arrest of 1,199 proclaimed offenders wanted in serious cases.
Police registered 1,824 cases against arms display, aerial firing and “dala culture”, arresting 1,859 suspects. The recoveries included 141 Kalashnikovs, 287 rifles, 2,170 pistols, 10 Kalakovs, 36 shotguns, two hand grenades and over 153,000 cartridges of various calibres.
In operations against narcotics dealers, 2,630 cases were registered and 2,963 suspects arrested. Police seized 657kg hashish, 326kg crystal meth (ice), 39kg heroin, 15kg opium and a quantity of liquor.
The CCPO said strict implementation of a transparent FIR registration policy in 2026 ensured that cases were registered without discrimination.
He added that police would continue indiscriminate action against anti-social elements to further improve law and order and safeguard citizens’ lives and property.
