PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industries has hailed Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in easing tensions between the United States and Iran and facilitating a two-week ceasefire, describing it as a significant achievement for regional peace. In a statement, the chamber’s leadership, including its president Shakeel Ahmed Khan Saraf and other office-bearers, credited the development to the leadership of Chief of Army Staff Gen Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, terming their engagement as effective “shuttle diplomacy”. The chamber noted that Pakistan’s role in defusing tensions had enhanced its global standing and paved the way for high-level talks scheduled to be held in Islamabad on April 10, reflecting coordinated efforts by the civil and military leadership. It further observed that the easing of tensions and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz were likely to stabilise global oil supplies, potentially leading to a reduction in petroleum prices. The statement said that lower fuel prices would help ease inflationary pressures and provide relief to the general public. It also expressed optimism that improved regional stability would boost business confidence, attract foreign investment and revitalise commercial activity and local industries. DLP Report
