Employees of the University of Peshawar (UoP) have expressed serious concerns and warn of protest action in case of further delay in their salaries. According to a statement, the Joint Action Committee held a meeting to review the situation, during which members described the continued delay in salary payments as alarming.
The committee noted that repeated delays had adversely affected the morale and dignity of university employees, with many families facing severe financial hardship.
During the meeting, the Vice Chancellor and the Registrar informed the committee that the third installment of funds was expected to be released shortly by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the Higher Education Department (HED).
They assured that salaries for December 2025 would be disbursed immediately upon receipt of the funds.
However, the Joint Action Committee stated that the patience of the employees had reached its limit.
It warned that if the assurances were not fulfilled, the committee would be compelled to adopt strict and decisive measures, holding the university administration fully responsible for the consequences.
The JAC also urged the federal and provincial governments to take immediate steps to address the persistent financial crisis facing the UoP and to ensure a permanent and sustainable solution.
The committee stressed that employees should not be subjected to repeated uncertainty, mental stress and financial difficulties due to delays in salary payments.
