The Directorate General of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is set to host the province’s first-ever Horse and Cattle Show, beginning November 8 at the Sher Khan Stadium, Peshawar.
According to an official handout, the three-day event will feature a range of activities, including traditional sports, musical performances for families, and poetry recitals in Urdu, Pashto, and Saraiki.
Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur will officially inaugurate the festival, which aims to celebrate and preserve Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s rich cultural heritage.
Speaking to the media, Director General Sports Abdul Nasser, alongside Director of Operations Nimatullah Marwat and Deputy Director Jamshed Baloch, highlighted the event’s focus on promoting traditional sports and community engagement.
The show will feature an array of traditional games, such as javelin throwing, mukha, kadka, dudas, kabaddi, dangal, koda, gatka, and stone-lifting competitions.
Unique attractions like camel and horse dances, as well as animal races—including a hunting dog race—will add to the festival’s appeal.
A competition for the highest milk-producing animal is also planned.
DG Sports Abdul Nasser emphasized the provincial government’s commitment to keeping local traditions alive through initiatives like these.
A cash prize of Rs 10 million will be awarded to top performers across various events, marking a significant investment in cultural and sports development.
The event, intended to attract diverse audiences, aims not only to showcase KP’s vibrant culture but also to inspire continued support for traditional games and athletes.
