The President of the Pakistan Human Rights Organization, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, filed a Petition against the appointment of the Chairman and Managing Board Pakistan Red Crescent Society.
The petition was heard by Justice Ijaz Anwar and Justice Waqar Ahmed. The petitioner is the President of the Pakistan International Human Rights Organization, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said that Chairman and Managing Board of the PRCS were established in 2022. The Chairman and Board were appointed in August 2022.
The Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recently appointed the PCRS Chairman and also established the Managing Board, and the Governor has no authority, which is against the 1974 Society Act and Rules, according to the petitioner’s lawyer.
The Governor has made appointments on political grounds and has accommodated the PPP MLAs and people, the petitioner’s lawyer said. The assets and resources of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society are being used for political purposes, while the PRCS has illegally and unjustly diverted funds for flood victims in DI Khan, Swat, and other areas, and used sparingly for other purposes.
PRCS used assets and resources in PPP Political activities, while Rs3 million were spent on the Iftar party at the Governor’s House, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa alone. On this occasion, Justice Ijaz Anwar remarked that whether the whole of Pakistan was giving halwa(Sweet dishes).
All records of the merciless use of funds and resources are available, and the Court suspended the declaration of Chairman PRCS and the Managing Board. The court should stop the Chairman and the Managing Board from working. The petitioner appealed to the Court to issue orders to establish the Acting Chairman and the Managing Board, the petitioner’s lawyer.
