Petition has been filed in Peshawar High Court (PHC) against Independent Power Producers ( IPPs)’
Petition has been filed by Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industrial estate association making federal government, NEPRA,, PESCO and IPPs respondents.
The petition said agreements with IPPs started in 1994. Burden was shifted to national exchequer by fixing the price of electricity high., Load shedding declined but people were ruined economically.
The petitioner pleaded that people are unable to pay electricity bills being the electricity costly. Additional payments have been made to IPPs which should be withdrawn.
It was further said in the petition forensic audit of IPPs be conducted. Senate committee recommendations be implemented at every cost.
