Lahore: The Pakistan Furniture Council (PFC) has urged the federal government and the State Bank of Pakistan to increase financing for the furniture and allied wood-based industries, emphasizing that targeted support is essential to promote growth, exports, and employment in the sector. PFC Director Shahbaz Aslam said the current access to credit remains insufficient, particularly for small and medium enterprises, which form the backbone of the furniture industry. Speaking at a policy consultation, Aslam highlighted that while the furniture sector contributes significantly to regional exports and local employment, limited access to affordable financing has constrained investment, modernization, and expansion.
