PHC summons VC, Registrar of Islamia College varsity

The Peshawar High Court has summoned the vice-chancellor and registrar of Islamia college university here on Tuesday, in connection with the demolition of historical parts of the university.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Qasir Rasheed and Justice Aijaz Anwar fixed September, 30 (Today) for hearing and directed the vice-chancellor and registrar to present before the court in a personal capacity. The bench also expressed annoyance over the demolition of heritage and historical parts of the college, Islamia college is a historical educational an institution in the region while it’s building a precious national heritage. The incumbent vice-chancellor has no right to demolish some of the building parts for the purpose of renovation and reconstruction the bench remarked.
The petition has been filed by advocate Essa Khan claiming that most of the varsities of the province have no permanent vice-chancellors and being run by the acting vice-chancellors.
Member of the bench said that the policy of adhocism caused damages to public sector university’s management and teaching faculty performance.
The bench summoned the two high officials of the university to submit their reply in the case, adding that the chief secretary and secretary of higher education Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) will also be summoned in the case if it deemed necessary.
