PESHAWAR
Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) provincial president Engineer Amir Muqam on Friday announced that its party would move the Supreme Court against the order of the Peshawar High Court’s Abbottabad Circuit Bench for the postponement of second round of local body elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
It is pertinent to mention here that Peshawar High Court Abbottabad Circuit Bench has suspended ECP notification regarding the second phase local government elections in 18 districts of KP.
After the apex court decision, the ECP on Friday also announced the that it has decided in the light of court decision to suspend scheduled polls for local body elections in KP.
KP President Engineer Amir Muqam has said that they will appeal against the postponement of local body election phase two in the Supreme Court.
He alleged that the government has planned the worst pre-poll rigging by postponing the election but we will not allow them to run away from the field.
Reacting to the delay in the local body elections, he said that on the one hand, the candidates have also made preparations and on the other hand, the arrangements of the Election Commission are complete and elections should be held as per its schedule.
Amir Muqam said that he would soon file an appeal against it in the Supreme Court.
