ISLAMABAD: The Parliamentary Reporters Association’s (PRA) Executive Body has rejected Prime Minister Imran Khan’s statement, in which the premier had alleged journalists of allegedly minting money from opposition parties. According to details, meeting of PRA was held here at parliament house under chair of President PRA Siddique Sajid. PRA’s executive body decided in its meeting to write a letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan, which would demand the premier to take his statement back, a defamation petition will be filed otherwise. The journalist body expressed sheer disappointment over PM’s statement and said PM’s words were allegations against whole journalist fraternity. PRA said in its statement allegations were a conspiracy against media fraternity to suppress freedom of speech press freedom. It said draconian laws such as PECA and PMDA were bids to control media. The Executive body reiterated resolve to protect esteem and self-regard of journalist community. The Executive Committee decided in principle to boycott National Assembly’s upcoming meeting.
