The police on Wednesday arrested 154 suspected persons and anti-social elements during search and strike operations in the provincial capital, an official said.
SSP-Operations said that the search and strike operations were carried out on the directives of the CCPO Muhammad Tahir Khan.
He said that the operations were carried out in the inner city, Cantonment, Saddar and rural areas, Police Stations Bana Mari, Faqirabad, Hashnagri, Gulbahar, Daudzai and Pishtakhara.
He said that the police also recovered three Kalashnikovs, 11 pistols, 398 cartridges, 6.5 kg hashish, four bottles of liquor during the action.
The Station Kotwali police also conducted search and strike operations and combing operation in sub-division Hashatnagri and Kotwali police stations.
The cops were also assisted by the personnel of the bomb disposal unit BDU and ladies police. They also used and sniffer dogs during the action.
The police arrested 780 criminals and anti-social elements. The arrested persons included 633 criminals and 147 persons for violation of tenancy laws.
They also recovered 31 pistols, 11,088 cartridges, over nine kilogram of hashish, 350 heroine.
