Police have arrested a man allegedly involved in circulating fake currency in Saddar markets and recovered Rs113,000 in counterfeit Pakistani notes from him.
According to a press release issued by the Capital City Police Peshawar on Saturday, SHO Police Station Gharbi Abdulla Jalal, acting on the instructions of SP Cantt Division Muhammad Junaid Kharal and under the supervision of DSP Cantt Circle Raza Bacha, conducted a timely operation near Bilor Plaza on Saddar Road.
The arrested suspect was identified as Irfan son of Muhammad Ishaq, a resident of Nasir Bagh. Police said the suspect would purchase goods from unsuspecting shopkeepers in different Saddar markets and pay with counterfeit currency before fleeing the scene.
Acting on information, the police team intercepted and arrested the suspect on the spot. A total of Rs113,000 in fake Pakistani currency was recovered from his possession.
A case has been registered against the accused and further investigation is under way, the statement added.
