LAHORE: The investigation into the tragic and mysterious deaths of a mother and her three children in Valencia Town has been expanded, with police recording the statement of the children’s father, Naser. According to details, Naser stated that his wife had been suffering from a mental health condition for the past three years and had stopped taking her medication six months ago. He recounted that upon returning home with groceries, he asked his wife where the children were. She replied that they had gone to watch a film with Fatima. Naser questioned why she had sent them without him, adding that they could have all gone together. His wife told him to eat some ice cream, as he hadn’t had anything since morning. DNA
While he was still speaking with his wife, there was a knock at the door. When he opened it, neighbors informed him that children were lying in the backyard. He rushed to the courtyard and found his children lying dead. His wife’s condition also deteriorated, and she was shifted to a nearby hospital.
Naser further stated that he had wanted to send his children to the United States for higher education but, due to the high costs in America, he had decided to educate them in Pakistan instead, hoping to make doctors of them. He expressed suspicion that his wife may have given something to the children in the ice cream.
Forensic teams and police have begun a re-examination of the bodies. Officials described the case as “highly complex” and said multiple angles are being investigated.
According to police authorities, contact has also been made with the woman’s relatives in the United States and Canada. Investigators are trying to determine whether the children were fed a poisonous substance or administered poison. The family originally hails from Pasrur, Sialkot.
Police officials stated that it would be premature to say whether the father or the mother is responsible for the children’s deaths. They added that a domestic worker of a neighbor spotted the children’s bodies in the back alley. A thorough and meticulous investigation into the matter is currently underway.
