Police report presented in LHC on Basant festival

Cotton string and registered kites will be allowed: Security plan
LAHORE
A comprehensive security plan has been evolved for Basant celebration in Lahore and a detailed police report has been filed in Lahore High Court (LHC) in this regard.
As per plan Lahore city has been divided in red, yellow and green zones.
Kite flying related law and permission has been challenged by Azhar Siddique advocate in Lahore High Court (LHC).
According to police report hazards have been identified for 2026 therein on the basis of ten years data.
Only cotton string and registered kites will be allowed. There will be zero tolerance for glass coated, chemical and metalled string .
QR code registration of every kite and string has been made compulsory.
Helmet and safety wires have been made compulsory for motorcyclists. There will be ban on entry into red zone without antenna. .
During Basant days 5000 free rickshaws will be plied for the citizens. Rescue, health and traffic police will remain high alert.
Stern action will be taken on drinking liquor, aerial firing and other illegal activities on rooftops as per safety plans for the 2026 Basant festival
