Polio awareness session held in Landi Kotal

To sensitize the locals of the cripple disease on eve of the polio eradication campaign to be scheduled on August 22, an awareness session was held in Jirga hall subdivision Landi Kotal on Friday.
Provincial Assembly Members(MPAs) Shafiq Sher and Wilson Wazir, Assistant Commissioner, Landi Kotal Irshad Mohmand besides councilors, police and health officials, tribal elites, religious scholars and members of civil society participated in the moot.
Addressing on the occasion MPA Shafiq Sher, AC Irshad Mohmand, Wilson Wazir and others said that Pakistan is among three countries across the world where the polio virus is still threatening the children that needs to be eliminated.
It is the sacred duty of every single parent to administer anti-polio drops to the children below five years and save them from the curse of polio, they added.
They urged people from different walks of life to come forward and assist the health and administrative officials to feed the polio drops to the children.
To meet a target of approximately 61000 children, 275 teams have been formulated to administer polio drops to them.
It is to be stated here that for the last two years no polio positive has been filed in district Khyber.
