Islamabad: Federal Minister for Power Division, Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari, has taken immediate notice of the instructions issued by PPMC regarding non-crediting of units to net metering consumers and ordered an urgent review of the said directives. The Power Division stated that some net metering consumers had installed net metering systems exceeding their approved license (DG Capacity). As a result, during the previous month, a few of these consumers were not given any credit for the electricity exported to the national grid, which was not in accordance with the correct procedure. The Power Division has clarified that this practice was not appropriate. Under the revised instructions, only those electricity units exported beyond the approved capacity will not be credited, while all units exported to the national grid within the approved capacity will be fully credited to consumers. In this regard, revised and clear instructions have been issued to all DISCOs. Furthermore, net metering consumers whose bills did not reflect credited units will be provided the necessary billing adjustments in the next billing cycle. Federal Minister Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari has reaffirmed that the government will not compromise on ensuring the legitimate rights of electricity consumers and will continue to uphold transparency and fairness in the power sector.
