PESHAWAR
PPP KP chapter acting president Mohammad Ali Shah Bacha on Wednesday announced that its party was boycotting by-elections to the National Assembly seats in the province. He said that the decision was taken on the instructions of the party senior leadership in the centre.
He said that PPP has decided to withdraw their candidates nomination papers submitted in the provincial election commission for the by-elections on NA seats in KP. Mohammad Ali Shah Bacha who is also state minister added that PPP would not take part in the by-elections scheduled by the ECP in the province for the National Assembly seats on March 16 and 19.
The party would withdraw their nomination papers on Wednesday today as the ECP has fixed February 22 for the withdrawal of papers, he added that all decisions by the party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would be implemented in letter and spirit.
It is pertinent to mention that Awami National Party (ANP), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazal (JUI-F) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) have also decided to boycott the upcoming by-elections in KP on NA seats. After the recent announcement of PPP regarding the boycott, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will contest the scheduled by-election in the province without any opponents on multiple seats.
By-polls in the province are scheduled to be held in the province in two phases. The ECP has announced March 16 and 19 for the by-elections on multiple NA seats in the province.
The NA seats were vacated after the resignations of the PTI MNAs were accepted by the speaker of the NA.
