ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Saturday rejected the rumours floating on social media regarding the outgoing Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar joining the party and being nominated for the post of senate chairman.
“Our top candidate for the position is Yousuf Raza Gillani,” PPP’s senior leader Faisal Karim Kundi told Independent Urdu, adding that the party is yet to make a final decision. Surprisingly, a source close to the prime minister’s office said: “Right now, the National Assembly needs to determine the speaker and deputy speaker, half of the Senate needs to be elected, and only after that the stage for electing the chairman will come.” DNA
