ISLAMABAD, MARCH 26 (Online): PPP has nominated Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani as opposition leader in Senate while flouting the PDP decision.
PPP delegation led by Sherry Rehman met chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani.
PPP has filed an application with the signatures of 30 senators in support of Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani as opposition leader in Senate.
Yousuf Raza Gillani was accompanied by Sherry Rehman, Robina Khalid and others.
Chairman Senate will issue notification of opposition leader after verifying the signatures of these 30 senators.
PPP delegation met Sadiq Sanjrani chairman Senate.
Sherry Rehman said during the meeting we have filed application with the signatures of 30 senators which include 21 from PPP, 2 from ANP and one from JI. While 2 from FATA and 4 members from Azad group led by Dilawar Khan have also supported us. No funeral of PDP was held. It was PPP right.
Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani said “ I don’t know how much people have supported us as I have been called by Sherry Rehman here.
Sources said Dilawar Khan independent senator from KP has decided to form his parliamentary independent group in Senate. He will be head of his independent group.; This group will join hands with opposition. This block and other senators can extend support to Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani.
