The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) celebrated Pakistan’s 80th Independence Day with a vibrant ceremony at its National Headquarters in Islamabad, bringing together staff, volunteers and Movement partners in a display of patriotism, solidarity and national pride.
Held at the Fatimah Jinnah Auditorium, the ceremony was attended by PRCS Chairperson Mrs. Farzhana Naek, Secretary General Mr. Muhammad Abaidullah Khan, Heads of Delegations and representatives of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay), Norwegian Red Cross, German Red Cross, PRCS staff, Movement partners and a large number of volunteers.
The celebrations included the cutting of the Independence Day cake by the Honorable Chairperson, while participants joined in singing national songs, creating a spirited atmosphere reflecting the joy and pride associated with the country’s Independence Day.
Speaking on the occasion, PRCS Chairperson Mrs. Farzhana Naek said, “Independence is not only a moment to celebrate our past, but also an opportunity to reflect on the Pakistan we want to build for the generations ahead.
At the Pakistan Red Crescent, we express our love for the country through service, compassion and by standing with people when they need help the most. Our staff and volunteers are present in communities across Pakistan, turning this spirit of service into meaningful action every day.”
Adding a prominent visual element to the celebrations, PRCS organised an Ambulance Fleet March through Islamabad. Ambulances carrying the national flag and PRCS flags departed from the National Headquarters and travelled along major routes of the capital before returning to NHQ. The fleet march drew appreciation from citizens along the routes and offered a striking display of Pakistan’s national colors across the capital.
