ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi on Monday approved the appointment of economist Dr. Kaiser Bengali and former President Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industries Muhammad Yawar Irfan Khan as private members of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP board). These slots were vacant after the resignations of Syed Saleem Raza and Zafar A. Khan. Kaiser Bengali is an economist with over 40 years of experience in teaching, research and policy advice in Pakistan and abroad. Dr Bengali’s areas of research interest include issues in planning & development and macro-economic and fiscal policies, particularly relating to inter-personal and inter-regional inequality, poverty, unemployment, and social justice, urban and regional planning. Among others, Yawar Irfan Khan served as Chairman Punjab Chief Minister Task Force For Industrial Development (small & medium) and Managing Director Punjab Small Industries Corporation. He has immense experience of travelling overseas both on business visits as well as tourism for the last more than 25 years and also attending conferences & seminars concerning trade, commerce.
