Aafia Movement spokesman Muhammad Ayub has said that the US presidential pardon is not the last option and our struggle would continue till the release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui.
As per details, he said that they are optimistic about the release of Aafia Siddiqui.
He said Aafia Movement leader and noted neurophysician of the country Dr Fowzia Siddiqui has met with her sister Aafia in FMC Carswell jail. On this occasion, civil society members staged a peaceful demo outside the jail to express solidarity to Dr Aafia Siddiqui.
Muhammad Ayub said that as per the information received by Aafia Movement Media Cell, Aafia’s lawyer Clive Smith escorted Dr Fowzia Siddiqui to the jail.
Clive Smith said it was painful to think about the emotional meeting between the two sisters. He said the temperature was minus six and everything was frozen. He said Dr Fowzia had to wait a lot due to long official procedures. He said out of the allotted time of four hours only two hours were actually given for the meeting.
Dr Fowzia Siddiqui said it was a very sad and painful meeting. She had high hopes that this time she would escort her sister home. She said she is still thankful for the countless supporters who demand the release of Aafia. She also thanked the civil society members and DFW community of Dallas for their big peaceful demo.
The Aafia Foundation USA, Director Operations Alhaj Mori Salakhan and Clive Smith also attended the demo. Speaking on the occasion, Clive Smith said that even if President Joe Biden didn’t pardon Dr Aafia Siddiqui, she would eventually come out of jail.
Resident scholar of Islamic Association of Northern Texas, Dr Asif Heerani said that Muslim community should continue to struggle for the release of Aafia and remain in contact with their leaders and Imams.
