Press envoys of 17 countries should formulate their best efforts to facilitate overseas pakistanis

Islamabad (PR): The Federal Ombudsman Mr. Muhammad Salman Faruqui has asked press envoys of 17 countries & ; Ministry of Information & Broadcasting to give awareness on resolution of the problems of Overseas Pakistanis in the resective countries, so that could  approach to the relevant forum for the redressal.
In this regard, a meeting was chaired by Hafiz Ahsan Ahmad Khokhar, Senior Advisor Law and Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis to Federal Ombudsman.
The representatives of Ministry of Information, External Public Wing, Press Information Department PTV and Radio Pakistan attended the meeting at Ombudsman Secretariat.
Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmad Khokhar, Senior Advisor Law and Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis briefed the participats on the steps taken for Overseas Pakistanis and filing of complaint mechanism in the Ombudsman Secretariat by Overseas Pakistanis.
He said that the complaints of overseas Pakistanis are being decided in 45 days and for early resolution of their complaints 40 federal government departments have been connected with Ombudsman Overseas website.
He informed that the facilitation desks have been established at Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Multan, Sialkot and Faisalabad International airports to facilitate Overseas Pakistanis and other out country passengers.
These facilitation desks carry senior supervisory officers of 12 federal government departments including PIA, CAA, Customs, FIA and other related agencies.  Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmad Khokhar, Senior Advisor Law and Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis said that in one year more than 35,000 complaints were resolved by these facilitation desks.
He stressed upon the Ministry of Information to design a mechanism to create awareness through press envoys of 17 countries i.e USA, Canada, India, Belgium, France, UAE, Singapore, Tokyo, Bangladesh, Iran, Afghanistan, China, Sri Lanka and Egypt for Overseas Pakistanis regarding Complaint Resolution Mechanism of the Ombudsman, so that they could be facilitated in a better way and improving Pakistan image in their respective countries.
In addition to this, Mr. Khokhar also asked the Ministry of Information to make arrangements to broadcast the public service message on the private channels through PEMRA like PTV and Radio Pakistan to create awareness on the Swift Complaint Resolution System through which speedy justice is being provided to the needy people free of cost within 25-45 days by Federal Ombudsman Secretariat.
He further informed Federal Ombudsman decided more than 262,000 cases in three only and every year more than 70 thousand complaints are resolved every year.
He said that pensioners are being facilitated with best efforts in many departments and the cases are resolved within 30 days.
He said that AGPR has resolved nearly 3,000 pension cases in few months and now no pension case is pending beyond 30 days in many federal government departments, as reported by them.
Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmad Khokhar, Senior Advisor Law and Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis further asked the ministry of information to create awareness at mass level for the overseas Pakistanis regarding listening of their complaints and other such issues by the Pakistani Ambassadors on weekly basis.
He advised that the press envoys of 17 countries should make their best efforts to facilitate Overseas Pakistanis and enhance the better image of Pakistan in these countries.
