A group of pro-Palestinian activists held a protest rally at the US Senate office building and called on the US to insist on a permanent ceasefire in the besieged Gaza Strip.
On this occasion, the police arrested dozens of protesters. According to a foreign news agency, dozens of activists from groups such as the American Campaign for Palestinian Rights and Jewish Voice for Peace arrived at the US Senate office building and recorded his protest in support of the Palestinians.
Protesters called on the US government to divert funds to domestic priorities such as affordable housing and childcare, rather than further arming Israel with US weapons.
US police arrested an activist after he climbed the 51-foot-tall black steel statue and attempted to hoist a large banner and Palestinian flag. Police said that a total of 51 people have been arrested during the crackdown on rally.
