Acting Mayor Haji Muhammad Jameel said that the problems of Aurat Foundation will be solved on a priority basis and they will be equipped with all possible facilities because the said foundation is working day and night for the rights of women and trying to give them their legitimate rights.
He was talking to Aurat Foundation Passion Program Project Officer Ayesha Rehman, who met the Acting Mayor Peshawar in his office and discussed the annual development plans besides informing him about their problems.
She in her briefing said that the foundation is working to empower women, which includes providing women’s rights, ‘violence-free society’, ensuring women’s safe participation in politics, ‘not violence against women’, asking women’s will at the time of marriage, and giving a share in inheritance.
She said that Aurat Foundation and South Asia Pakistan are jointly running the Democracy and Empowered Aurat (Spirit) program in Peshawar district in collaboration with WLG, WVNA and Youth Group and to strengthen women in this program. They also have to work on development programs in their areas, so it should be included in the budget. She further said that in most areas there are no street lights in the darkness of the night due to which there are many problems and in some areas there is no sewing and embroidery center.
