An important meeting held here on Tuesday with caretaker Minister for Communication and Works (C&W) and Irrigation Engineer Ahmad Jan Khan in the chair, reviewed progress on different ongoing projects.
Chief Engineer C&W North Engineer Shakir Habib,Additional Secretaries, Riaz Khan and Miss.Fariha Malahat, Project Directors of various developmental projects, representatives of relevant projects consultants and other officials attended.
During the meeting the caretaker minister was briefed regarding mega development projects executed regarding communication,works,links roads of rural developments and informed him about its main characteristics, funding status,ongoing work progress and completion timeframe.
On this occasion the minister was briefed that in order to make accessibility to various tourism spots in the province, a mega project for integrated tourism development has been executed through the C & W department wherein, the main tourism zones are being linked through new roads. It was said that a 70 million dollars foreign fund and a Rs3 billion ADP budget have been allocated for the same project.
Similarly , for the conservation and development of historical mosques and archeological places, a mega project has been initiated and the developmental work on same places has been completed.
It was told that on the assistance of World Bank, under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rural Accessibility Project a project has been started so that to link the rural areas with urban areas through roads connection and under the same scheme, 463 kilometer rural roads,305 kilometers flood affected roads and 16 flood affected bridges are being constructed.
Furthermore, in Merged Districts and few Settled districts, under KP Rural Investment Support Program, various complexes are being constructed, while, under PARRSA and US Aid funded projects, the C&W department completed at least 124 schemes wherein, rehabilitation of 25 schools was also included.
On this occasion, the caretaker minister while expressing his views,said that the primary responsibility of the caretaker government is to run the relevant departments according to the framed rules and regulations,adding that he will try to facilitate the department in removing the hurdles in the way of mega projects completion.
He said that in this connection if some matters involve other departments, it will raise with the relevant authorities of that department accordingly.
Engineer Ahmad Jan Khan vowed to further smooth the direction of the department towards better target achievements and development.
