Protection of minorities is a top priority of police: CCPO

PESHAWAR: CCPO Abbas Ahsan has said on the occasion Christmas that police would utilize all its resources to ensure the security of the minority in the provincial capital, adding that protection of minorities is a top priority of police. On his arrival at St. John’s Cathedral Church in Peshawar on the eve of Christmas, CCPO Abbas Ahsan congratulated Bishop of Peshawar Humphrey Sarfraz Peter and distributed gifts among children of the Christian community. He said that police share in the joys of the community as the role of the Christian community in the development of the country is obvious. Fool-proof security has been provided to the residential areas of the minority community he added. On the occasion, CCPO Abbas Ahsan cut the Christmas cake and congratulated the Christian community. Bishop of Peshawar Humphrey Sarfraz Peter thanks the capital police chief and appreciated the performance of police in term of security arrangements for the community on this special occasion. It is to note here that around 1,500 police personnel have been deployed inside and outside churches across the Peshawar district with the support of the Ababeel Squad patrols. CCPO has directed all police officers and field staff to keep a close eye on suspected people or objects in their surroundings and increased patrolling in the areas of where the Christian community living.
