Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Aftab Alam Advocate has laid the foundation stone of Khalwat Dam in Union Council Ziarat Sheikh Allah Dad, Kohat district. He was accompanied by the Chairman Gumbat Tehsil Sajid Iqbal and Deputy Commissioner Kohat Rahimullah Mehsud. Local elders, elected representatives, farmers and officials from the irrigation department also attended the ceremony. Work on the Dam has started following the groundbreaking.
According to the authorities of the irrigation department, the Dam is expected to irrigate 2,000 to 3,000 acres of farmland once completed, boosting crop yields and strengthening the local agricultural economy. Unlike conventional dams where water is released at fixed intervals, Khalwat Dam will provide a continuous 24-hour water supply, enabling lower costs and increased productivity.
Speaking at the ceremony, the minister said that the provincial government’s top priority was to complete the project on time.
