Public hearing held for appraisal of environmental impacts under KPCIP in KDA Kohat

A public hearing in collaboration with Asian Development Bank (ADB) was conducted on Thursday for appraisal of environmental impacts under Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cities Improvement Project (KPCIP) in KDA Kohat in connection with construction and improvement of sewerage system (Sewerage treatment plant).
Zakir, Director, Department of Environment Protection Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Younas, Deputy Director Environment Protection KP, environment specialist of KPCIP Dr Abdul Qayyum, Water and Sanitation Services Company Kohat (WSSCK) CEO Arif Rauf, Assistant Commissioner Sameer Laghari, Additional Assistant Commissioner Saad, political and social figure Malik Mansoor Bangansh, notables and locals of the area in a large number were present during the hearing.
The purpose of the public hearing was to brief about Construction of Sewerage Treatment Plant Project in KDA and listen to public grievances.
Zakir, Director Department of Environment Protection Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while speaking on the occasion highlighted the significance of the project and its elements relating to the environment.
He expressed hope that the residents of KDA would feel positive change after completion of the project.
Arif Rauf, CEO WSSCK during his address apprised the participants about main objectives of the project and said the completion of this important project would make possible elimination of the longstanding issue of sewerage in KDA Kohat.
He said the cleanliness of sewerage would be made possible again for the utilization of irrigation purposes.
Dr Abdul Qayyum, Environment Specialist of KPCIP highlighted on the occasion regarding design, infrastructure and other aspects of the project.
Participants, public representatives, locals and notables during the public hearing expressed their full support for making this project a success.
They hoped that a positive change would come in the lives of locals of KDA and would also make possible smooth flow of sewerage in KDA Kohat.
