Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Lodhran on Saturday carried out inspections across the district over the past two weeks, imposing heavy fines on 92 food outlets for violating food safety laws.
According to PFA officials, food safety teams inspected 960 outlets, issuing 401 improvement notices.
Production at two food points was suspended until corrective measures were implemented.
An FIR was registered against a food business owner for food adulteration and fraud.
During the drive, PFA teams confiscated 70 kilograms of expired food,40 litres of substandard beverages and 12 kilograms of banned China salt.
Several outlets were found operating under poor hygiene conditions with inadequate pest control, posing health risks to consumers. Strict legal action was taken against those involved in selling adulterated or prohibited food items.
PFA Director General(DG) Asim Javed said protecting public health remains the authority’s top priority.
