Punjab government submits smog remedy to LHC

The report of the actions taken by the Punjab government to remedy the smog has been submitted to the Lahore High Court (LHC).
According to the report, about 60 thousand small and big units were checked in 3 months to control smog.
More than 6700 units were sealed for violations.
LHC was told that during the crackdown in the last 3 months, a fine of around Rs 13 crore was levied, 540 cases were registered and 118 people were arrested for causing smog.
The report said that 735 smoke-emitting factories were sealed in Lahore Division during the last 3 months and 187 brick kilns were sealed during the crackdown.
A report by the Punjab government said that fines of 86 lacs were imposed for setting fire to crop residue and 216 cases were registered for setting fire to residue.
